FAQs
-
Camp takes place at The Crow inside Bergamot Station Arts Station in Santa Monica, CA! Campers spend time both downstairs on the Main Stage and upstairs in The Nest and in our cozy green room. We also use People’s Park, a small green space within Bergamot Station Arts Center, and nearby parks like Ishihara or Gandara for lunch and games! Bergamot Station Arts Center is an “artist colony” and owned by the City of Santa Monica as a space for artists!
-
If you’d like it to be! We partner with MRKT Cafe to offer kids’ meals, which you can order daily. A menu and order link will be sent the week before camp. Campers are also welcome to bring their own lunch. But either way, whatever you decide, jokes may be written about the food you provide for your young comedian. #hotpocks
-
We write jokes! Do they have a google chrome book or airbook? Feel free to bring it. If not, we love old school notebooks and a pencil! Kids love to pretend they need hydration so please send them with a water bottle, (we can refill it) a snack or two, sunscreen, and lunch (unless you're ordering through us). Please label everything with your camper’s full name!
-
Our student/counselor ratio is 4:1! Approximately 20 campers with 5-7 counselors per session!
-
Our counselors are high school and college students (aka theater nerds) with experience in the performing arts, many of whom have been with us since the camp's first year. They’re trained to provide a safe, fun environment for all campers.

The Crow Comedy Camp is from 9:00am - 3:00pm every day. Unfortunately, early drop off or late pick up are not currently offered.

We will have a counselor in the southwest corner of the Bergamot parking lot to greet your campers in the morning for drop off, and they’ll be waiting with the campers in the same spot for pick up in the afternoon.
-
You can call The Crow at (424) 322-8017 or email us at one of the following emails: mickey@crowcomedy.com or nicole@crowcomedy.com. You can also find us in the Crow space, at Gandara Park, or at Ishihara Park.

After drop off, we begin each day with ice breakers and warm ups. We’ll often have an interactive lesson or sample of comedy in the morning to help campers understand different comedy styles and develop their own comedic voice. We’ll have a mid-morning snack, then participate in some physical games and activities to keep the creative juices flowing. We’ll participate in some exercises and games to get kids used to the stage and develop their stage presence. We’ll take time out to write material, sculpt our jokes and share ideas and suggestions with each other. Time will also be spent playing improvisational and performance games. Throughout the week, students will have opportunities to develop, practice and refine their final performance.
-
Yes, all of our staff members are vaccinated.
-
If your child has a severe allergy, we ask that you speak directly with Mickey or Nicole on your child’s first day of camp to discuss the specifics with him/her.
It is helpful to have the information in writing if possible so we can have the information on hand if needed. Please be sure to include it in the medical form section when completing your child’s camp registration.
While we do not regularly provide snacks for our campers, there are occasions when we do give out small camp-wide treats and while we try to be mindful of food allergies when selecting these snacks, we cannot guarantee they will be suitable for your child.
Please discuss this with your child and your Counselor so everyone is clear on your child’s particular allergies.
-
If your child has an Epi-pen, we ask that you put it in a plastic bag clearly labeled with your child’s name, date of birth, your name, and your phone number.
Epi-pens are stored in a temperature controlled cooler.
You may either check it in and out with your Counselor each day your child attends camp or, if more convenient, you may leave it with us during the duration of your child’s camp dates and pick it up on your child’s last day of camp.
Mickey and Nicole (who have a child with an Epi-pen) are both fully trained on the administration of Epi-pens and our First Aid supplies (including Epi-pens) are always within reach.
*If Epi-pens are left at camp beyond your child’s enrollment dates we will attempt to contact you
If the Epi-pen is not picked up by the end of the camp season, it will be disposed of.
